Yogic science confirms that it takes 40 days to fully develop a new life-promoting habit or to drop a current destructive habit. A 40 Day Yoga Challenge is a great way to strengthen the body, unburden the mind, and begin a daily commitment to yourself. In 40 days, you can create a whole new way of being.

Here are some suggestions for the 40 day Yoga Challenge:

  • Get 6-7 hours a night of sleep.
  • Devote time to yourself to sit, meditate, just BE
  • Wake up and drink warm water with a lemon.
  • Over the day drink 2 litres of Water with lemon.
  • Listen to your body over the 40 day practice. Don’t push too hard in class and give yourself a gift of massage or child’s pose half way through.

Q & A

What if I go out of town or can’t make a class?

Try yoga with a Yoga DVD or do your own personal practice.   We can give you hand outs with a Hatha Yoga routine & a Power Yoga Routine so you can
practice on your own.

Can I take more than one class in a day?

The idea of the Challenge is to develop commitment, consistency and curiosity,  so to meet the Challenge your requirement is to take one class daily.  It’s not about taking 40 classes, it’s about taking asana class daily for 40 days but if you need to double up once or twice during the challenge that is fine too.

More Positive thoughts and actions for your 40 days inspired by Wayne Dyer:

  • Take time to be alone in nature.
  • Refuse to be around others who are low energy or drag you down.
  • Surround yourself with positive, high energy people, empowering people.
  • Monitor your inner dialogue. You are what you think.
  • Meditate Regularly. Take time to be silent.
  • Be kind. Treat yourself and others with kindness when you eat, exercise, play, work, love and everything else.
  • Be at peace with everyone. You can only be in conflict if you participate.
  • No one is capable of making you upset without your consent.

40 Day Yoga Challenge:

Toying with the idea of the 40 Day Yoga Challenge?

Personally, I’ve found one of the best ways to approach the challenge and stick with it, was to find a friend to practice with.  Chances are that your friend’s energy and enthusiasm will be there for you on days when you need extra motivation and you will able to offer the same in return.  Not only will your practice blossom over the 40 days but your friendship will grow too.

Loosely translated  Yoga means “union,” I like to think of our community classes as an opportunity to remember our connection with others.  Having a friend to practice with and go to classes with is just a deeper expression of that connection.  If you can’t think of someone to partner up with, don’t be shy to ask, we can help you during the first week of classes, find a partner or a small group of people to journey with!  Namaste, Marlene
